What is Kooky Kibble?

Kooky Kibble is made from a medley of broken and misshapen kibble from different pet food formulas. Instead of discarding these, we repurpose them into affordable, healthy, and delicious meals for pets.

What is Kooky Kibble made of?

We use a delicious blend of New Zealand and Australian-sourced ingredients in our dog and cat food products. Each bag will vary in ingredients made up of the following: Meats (Lamb, Beef, Venison or Kangaroo), Fish (Salmon or Ocean Fish), Poultry (Duck, Turkey or Chicken), Meat Meals, Animal Fat (for Omega-6 fatty acids), Vegetables (Peas, Potatoes or Tapioca), Superfoods (Flaxseed, Apples, Cranberries, Blueberries, Kelp, Spinach, Turmeric), Natural Flavour, Brewers Dried Yeast, Minerals, Taurine, DL-Methionine, Vitamins, Natural Preservatives (Mixed Tocopherols for added freshness, Rosemary Extract, Tea Extract, Spearmint Extract).

Because this is a blend of different pet food formulas, our fat and protein levels will vary per bag.

Why is Kooky Kibble so affordable?

At Kooky Kibble, we believe good food shouldn't go to waste. That's why Kooky Kibble is made up of a medley of broken and misshapen kibble from different pet food formulas. Normally, misshapen or broken kibble is discarded simply because it does not fit conventional cosmetic standards. But we believe even kooky-looking kibble deserves to be eaten, not tossed out. So while the food may look funny on the outside, Kooky Kibble is perfectly safe, healthy, and delicious for pets to eat.

Since Kooky Kibble is made of a medley of pet food seconds/discards, we are able to reduce food waste, promote sustainably-made products, and maintain pocket-friendly prices for fellow pet parents.

What brand of seconds do you use?

We partner with a private label business, and as such, their customer information is proprietary to their clients and not for us to share. However, if you have any questions about the food, we'd love to share them with our team of animal nutritionists for more details. 

What bag sizes does Kooky Kibble come in?

We don’t offer single-serve samples, but we do have Starter Kits that are perfect for giving Kooky Kibble a go — and the best part? They ship free nationwide!

When will my order arrive?

We aim to process and prepare all orders within 1–3 working days. After dispatch, delivery times vary depending on your location:

  • Auckland: 3–4 business days

  • North Island Non-Rural: 4–5 business days

  • North Island Rural: 7–8 business days

  • South Island Non-Rural (Two-Day): 5–7 business days

  • South Island: 8–10 business days

Please note these are estimates and may vary based on courier performance, public holidays, or weather delays. You'll receive a tracking link by email once your order is on its way.

Can I alter my order after it's been made?

Maybe! If your order hasn’t been packed or shipped yet, we might be able to sneak in a change.

How much is your shipping fee?

Shipping rates depend on your order’s total weight and delivery location. The exact cost will be shown at checkout before you confirm your order.

Good news—orders over $60 qualify for free standard shipping via Post Haste and Mainstream NZ! 

Just a heads-up as we do have some exceptions for our free-shipping. 
- South Island deliveries
- With-grain products for cats and dogs 
- Small-sized orders (treats and toppers, unless they are paired with a bag of grain-free pet food)

How do I cancel my order?

Changed your mind? No worries — as long as your order hasn’t been handed over to the courier yet, we can still cancel it!

Once it’s with the courier, we're sorry to say we can’t cancel it on our end — if you're on an AutoDeliver plan, we're happy to help you cancel your subsequent orders. 

I can’t place an order online.

Oh no, that’s not supposed to happen! Here are a few things to try:

  1. Switch your browser or device – Sometimes a quick change does the trick.

  2. Clear your cookies/cache – Sounds techy, but it works more often than not!

  3. Check your payment method – If Shop Pay is being a bit cheeky, untick it at checkout to use a different option.

What countries do you ship to?

At the moment, we only ship within New Zealand. We're a proudly local brand and want to make sure your pet food arrives fresh and fast.

We're not shipping internationally just yet—but never say never! If that changes, we’ll let our customers know.

I’m missing an item from my order.

Oh no — that’s not what we like to hear! We’re really sorry for the mix-up.

Please send an email to sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz with the following so we can sort it out ASAP:

  2. A photo of the invoice/packing slip

Why has my order been canceled?

Oof, sorry about that! There are a few reasons your order might’ve been cancelled:

  1. Missing info – Sometimes we can’t book your courier if key details like a phone number are missing.

  2. Payment hiccup – If payment didn’t go through or got flagged, the system may have auto-cancelled it.

  3. Out of stock – Rare, but if something ran out while your order was processing, we’ll cancel and refund you ASAP.

  4. Fraud check – If our system flags an order as suspicious (even by mistake!), it might be cancelled for your safety.

Still unsure why it happened? No worries — email us at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz with your order number and we’ll sniff out what went wrong.

My order was delivered to the wrong address.

Yikes — that’s not what we want! We totally get how frustrating that is.

Please email us at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz with your Order Number and any delivery details you have. We’ll work with the courier to investigate and help sort it out so your goodies get to the right doorstep.

I received the wrong item.

Oops — sounds like we packed the wrong thing! So sorry about that.

Something’s wrong with my order

Oh no — that’s not what we want! If something’s a bit off with your order, we’re here to help.

What payment options are available?

We offer a variety of payment options to ensure convenience and security for our Kooky Kibble customers.

Currently, we accept:

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Pay

  • Union Pay

  • Mastercard

  • Visa

  • American Express

You can select any of these payment methods at checkout.

We currently do not offer EFTPOS or Afterpay, but we're working on making these available in the future.

How do I change my payment details?

For one-time Kooky Kibble orders:

Once an order is placed and payment has gone through, the payment method cannot be changed for that order. However, you can update or remove saved payment methods for future checkouts:

  • If you use Shop Pay, visit https://shop.app/account to manage your saved cards and addresses.

  • If you aren't on Shop Pay, your card details are not saved and will need to be re-entered for your next purchase.


For Autodelivery (Subscription) orders:

If you need to update your payment method:

  1. Log in to your Kooky Kibble account:

How do I know if I used Shop Pay for my Kooky Kibble order?

If you selected the purple Shop Pay button during checkout and saved your details, your order was processed using Shop Pay. You may also receive confirmation from Shop Pay via email or SMS.

Can I manage my Kooky Kibble AutoDelivery subscription through Shop Pay?

Yes—if your AutoDelivery is managed through Shop Pay:

  1. Go to https://shop.app/account

  2. Log in using your email address

  3. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email or phone

  4. Under Active Orders, click your Kooky Kibble AutoDelivery subsciption

  5. View your delivery schedule, order history, and payment method

How do I update my payment method in Shop Pay for my AutoDelivery subscription?

  1. Visit https://shop.app/account

  2. Under Active Orders, select your Kooky Kibble subscription

  3. Scroll to Subscription Details

  4. Click Edit Payment Method

  5. Choose an existing card or add a new one

  6. Click Update

This change will apply to future AutoDelivery subscription charges.

How do I remove Shop Pay as a payment method from my AutoDelivery subscription?

  1. Go to https://shop.app/account

  2. Under Active Orders, select your Kooky Kibble subscription

  3. Scroll to Subscription Details

  4. Click Edit Payment Method

  5. Click Remove Shop Pay and confirm again

What if I used Shop Pay for a one-time Kooky Kibble order?

Here, you can update or remove saved cards, addresses, and contact information linked to your Shop Pay account.

Can I switch from Shop Pay to another payment method for my subscription?

Yes, you can absolutely switch from Shop Pay to another payment method!

If your Kooky Kibble AutoDelivery was originally set up using Shop Pay, and you'd now prefer to manage it directly through your Kooky Kibble account, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Kooky Kibble account: https://kookykibble.co.nz/account

  2. Click Manage Subscriptions

  3. Go to Payment Methods

  4. Click Edit next to your current payment method

  5. Add a new credit or debit card

  6. Click Update to save the changes

Once updated, your subscription will continue under the new payment method — no need to use Shop Pay again.

How do I change my billing address?

For privacy and security reasons, Kooky Kibble is unable to update your billing address on your behalf. You’ll need to make any changes yourself through your account.

For Autodelivery (Subscription) orders:

  1. Log in to your Kooky Kibble account:

  3. Go to Billing Information

  4. Click Edit next to your billing address

  5. Enter your updated billing details and save the changes

For one-time orders:

You can update your billing address during checkout, before placing your order.
Once an order has been placed, the billing address cannot be changed for that specific order.

Can I pay using Google Pay, Apple Pay, or other digital wallets?

You sure can!

We accept Google Pay, Apple Pay, and other supported digital wallets at checkout — just as long as your device and browser are set up for it.

Here’s how it works:

  • On mobile: If your digital wallet is set up (Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.), you’ll see the option pop up during checkout. Too easy.

  • On desktop: You’ll need to use a compatible browser like Chrome (for Google Pay) or Safari (for Apple Pay) and be logged into your wallet account.

⚠️ Quick heads up: Digital wallets sometimes pull in your old saved address — so before you hit "Place Order," make sure your shipping address is current.

If you've placed an order and realised the address is wrong, flick us an email straight away at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz with your order number and updated address. We’ll do our best to sort it before your kibble gets sent out!

What is POLi?

POLi is a secure bank transfer payment method that allows you to complete your purchase directly from your bank without needing a credit or debit card.

How do I pay using POLi?

  1. Select POLi as your payment option at checkout. 

  2. You’ll be redirected to the POLi payment page where you can log into your online banking account. 

  3. Follow the prompts to complete the payment, and you’ll be redirected back to our website to confirm your order.

Can I use POLi for AutoDelivery orders?

Unfortunately, POLi cannot be used for AutoDelivery orders. Please choose another payment method if you're setting up an AutoDelivery.

How do I know my POLi payment was successful?

Once your payment is confirmed through POLi, our system will automatically process your order. You will receive an order confirmation email shortly after, confirming that your order has been placed successfully.

Are there any fees for using POLi?

There are no additional fees for using POLi on our website. The total price you see during checkout is what you’ll pay.

Is POLi payment secure?

Yes! POLi facilitates a secure bank transfer, and your payment is processed directly with your bank through POLi’s secure system. Your banking login details and personal information are never shared with us or stored by us at any time.

Can I pay using POLi if my bank account is outside of New Zealand?

No. POLi only works with participating New Zealand banks, so you’ll need a New Zealand-based bank account to use it. If your account is with a bank outside of New Zealand, POLi won’t be available as a payment option.

If you’d like to pay with an international credit card, we do accept them — simply select the credit card option at checkout.

What should I do if I encounter an issue with my POLi payment?

If you experience any issues during the payment process, please contact our support team at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz. We’ll be happy to assist you.

Can I track the status of my POLi payment?

Once the payment is complete, you'll receive an order confirmation email. If you don't receive it, or if you need further assistance, please reach out to our customer service team.

What if I don’t have an online banking account?

POLi requires an online banking account to complete the payment. If you don't have one, you can select another payment option available at checkout, such as credit or debit card, to complete your purchase. 

What if I made a mistake with my POLi payment?

If you mistakenly made a payment through POLi or entered the wrong details, please contact our customer support team immediately at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz. We will assist you in resolving the issue.

How long will it take for my POLi payment to be processed?

Payments made via POLi are processed in real-time. Once you complete your payment, you will be redirected back to our website, and your order will be confirmed. If you don't receive an order confirmation email within a few minutes, please check your payment status or contact us for assistance.

What if I don’t receive the order confirmation email?

If you don’t receive an order confirmation email after making your POLi payment, check your email’s spam folder first. If it’s not there, please contact our support team, and we’ll assist you right away. 

Can I cancel or modify my order after paying with POLi?

Once your order is confirmed and the payment is processed through POLi, we cannot cancel or modify the order. However, if you encounter any issues with your order, our customer service team is available to help. Please contact us at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz.

Is my bank information shared with Kooky Kibble when I use POLi?

No, we do not have access to your banking information when you use POLi. Your payment details are securely handled by your bank, ensuring complete privacy.

Do I need to create an account with POLi to use it?

No, you don’t need to create a separate account with POLi. You simply log in with your online banking credentials to complete the payment.

Can I use POLI for partial payments or installment plans?

At this time, POLi only supports full payments for orders. Partial payments or installment plans are not supported through POLi.

Is POLi available in all New Zealand banks?

POLi works with a wide range of banks in New Zealand, but it may not be supported by every bank or account type. When you select POLi at checkout, you’ll be shown the current list of participating banks to choose from. If your bank isn’t listed, you’ll need to select an alternative payment method.

I tried to use POLI, but it didn’t work. What should I do?

If you experience issues with POLi, please ensure that your bank supports POLi payments and that you're using the correct banking details. If the problem persists, please contact our customer service team at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz for further assistance.

Can I get a refund if I paid with POLI?

Yes! To request a refund, email us at sayhello@kookykibble.co.nz.
Your item must:

  • Be unopened, undamaged, and in original condition
  • Be purchased within the last 30 days
  • Include proof of purchase
  • Only if an incorrect item was delivered

Note: We cannot accept opened/used products, sale items, or custom/personalized orders. Refunds are processed within 3–5 business days.

How long does it take to get my refund?

Once approved, refunds for POLI payments usually take 3–5 business days to appear in your account.

What if I paid with POLI and my item was on sale?

Sale items, discounted products, and custom/personalized items can be refunded, but the refund will be based on the sale or discounted price.

How long does it take to get my order sorted?

We aim to pack your goodies and get them moving within 1–3 working days. That gives us just enough time to wrestle with the tape gun and give the kibble a wink before it goes.

After that, we hand it over to our delivery partners, and the amount of time thereafter truly depends on the delivery address. (See next question) 

When will my order arrive?

Here’s a rough idea of when to expect your pet’s feast, after its been packed and handed over to our delivery partners: 

  • Auckland: 3–4 business days

  • North Island Non-Rural: 4–5 business days

  • North Island Rural: 7–8 business days

  • South Island Non-Rural (Two-Day): 5–7 business days

  • South Island (General): 8–10 business days

That’s business days only—couriers need their weekends too. Timing can shift depending on which courier's van your order hitches a ride in, and other conditions outside of our control, like the weather! We truly seek your understanding on this. Sometimes it gets rough for our posties. 

Do you offer free shipping?

We sure do! If your order’s over $60, standard shipping is on us (cheers, Post Haste and Mainstream NZ).

What is AutoDelivery?

Kooky Kibble AutoDelivery is a subscription service that sends your pet’s favourite food to your doorstep on a recurring schedule — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. You’ll never run out of food again, and you’ll have full control over when it arrives.

How do I set up a Kooky Kibble AutoDelivery order?

Setting up your AutoDelivery subscription is easy:

  • Choose the product you want

  • Under the “Purchase Options”, select “AutoDelivery”

  • Choose your preferred delivery frequency

  • Proceed to checkout as usual

That’s it — your pet’s meals will now arrive on your chosen schedule!

How do I change my AutoDelivery frequency?

You can easily and flexibly change how often you receive your orders at any time.

How do I update my AutoDelivery shipping address or payment method?

With our AutoDelivery offering, while you've locked in savings and convenience, you're not locked into where you'd like your product delivered or how you'd prefer to pay!

Can I have more than one AutoDelivery subscription under the same account?

For sure! You can set up multiple AutoDelivery subscriptions (e.g., for different pets or products). Each one can have its own frequency and delivery address.

How do I store Kooky Kibble?

If your pet needs some time to crunch through their bag of Kooky Kibble, we do recommend decanting the kibble into smaller, airtight containers. This will help extend the food's shelf life and help prevent overexposure to air, heat, and moisture.

Here's a quick guide to help you determine what works best for you and your pets:

If you prefer dry storage:
1. Keep the food in its original bag and store the bag in an airtight container, preferably food-grade plastic or stainless steel. (The bag helps add another layer of protection.)
2. Keep this container away from direct sunlight, humid areas, extremely cold or warm areas, and away from household chemicals.

If you want to freeze the food:
1. Decant the kibble into airtight zip-top bags and store the bags in an airtight container in the freezer.
2. Portion the food into daily meal rations and defrost as needed. This way you only defrost what you need per day, preventing the rest of the food from spoiling from the constant exposure to air and moisture.
3. Remove as much air as possible from each zip-top bag. (Portioning meals into small zip-top bags will make this easier.)

If you do treat your pet to a bag of Kooky Kibble, please remember to gently transition your pet to the new food. Add the new food to your pet's current food in 25%, 50%, and 75% increments over 7-10 days. This helps their tummy slowly adjust and allows you time to observe whether your pet takes well to the new food. We hope this helps you decide if you'd like to give our food a try! Why does your grain-free dog food packaging have grains in the ingredients list?

Please rest assured that our grain-free Kooky Kibble dog food is grain-free. We are actually recycling an old design of our new packaging. We will reprint this to the correct ingredients list once our old bags are depleted so we don't cause any unnecessary wastage. Our apologies for any confusion!
